Peacock Skimmers

Christmas shopping officially accomplished! This weekend I braved Barton Creek Mall! I have been putting it off due to fearing how bad the crowds would be. Thanks to Holiday Mall Hours, David & I work up early and arrived at the mall yesterday for 10:30ish AM. I found the rest of the remaining presents needed and my outfits for Christmas Day and New Years Eve!

I am completely in love with these shoes! If you have ever read my blog previously, you know that I have expressed my love for all things peacock.

I am also very excited for the 2 day work week! The 5 day vacation from this job is a much needed break, but I'll save that story for tomorrow.

TGIF

The past 2 days in Austin have been icky, Fog everywhere!

This picture was taken at 5 p.m. yesterday on my drive home, so as you can see the fog doesn't let up all day.

Today will be the same then it will be clear tomorrow, thankfully!

I haven't felt like doing much with the nasty weather, makes me just want to be home on my sofa. I even skipped the gym last night, partly from taking advice from the news that said its better to not get out and about in this weather.

This weekend David & I are planning to go ice skating, and finish Christmas shopping for the family.

Hope everyone has a Happy Friday & a great weekend!

Weekend Adventures

David & I had a great time volunteering at the Texas Children's Home. There we are below in our aprons after serving food. It was something we both would like to do again. It felt very rewarding to help others especially at Christmas! With so much negativity and bitterness going around it's just not healthy. We want to surround myself with positive people who aren't so pessimistic.

The rest of the day was also great! We attended David niece's basketball game, went on a double date to the Trail of Lights, I forgot my camera so I will have to wait to get those pictures from the other couple that came with.

Then on Sunday we headed downtown for some shopping.
We found David's Secret Santa gift at Anthropologie. I picked out a Monogrammed Mug

along with a porcelain box that I could not find online, I hope David's coworker loves them!

The best part of my Sunday was going into Book People , a local independent book store next to Anthropologie. Inside Book People I saw a Blue Dog painting anyone who knows me knows I love love love Blue Dog! When the New Orleans Museum of Art held an exhibit David took me to a lecture and book signing by the artist George Rodrigue . I was so excited to see a painting hanging in Austin, I asked about it. Apparently George Rodrigue visited Book People in November 2000 and painted this Blue Dog while he was in the store!

Laura Elizabeth Jewelry

I discovered Laura Elizabeth Jewelry and I love it! Another great thing is that a portion of Laura Elizabeth's sales are donated to environmentally conscious causes.

Snow and Car Wrecks

This morning I woke up to a text message from my mom telling me that she saw on the news in Louisiana that it snowed at the Capital downtown in Austin. I thought awesome probably melted through the night. To my surprise when I went to take Riley out for his morning walk, there was light snow on the ground and covering the cars and rooftops! Pretty much a big deal considering living in Louisiana I never saw snow that didn't melt after 2 seconds of being on the ground. I was running really late this morning had 40 minutes to shower, take Riley out, have breakfast and leave so did not have time to take any pictures, hopefully it will snow again tonight or perhaps this weekend, because I need pictures of my Riley bear (the Mini Schnauzer) playing in the snow!

Wonderment Ornament found here

Yesterday morning David was involved in a car accident, fender bender. The roads were wet and around 8 a.m. he hydroplaned into the back of someone. They were not going very fast 25-30 mph. Everyone involved is ok, but the frame on his car is bent and compressor busted so he had to file a claim with his insurance to fix it, also to fix the ladies' bumper. She drove a truck no real damage was done to her vehicle.

That combined with a hectic week at work is why took so long to get a post in this week.

For The Record

To end my 4 day Thanksgiving Vacation, David & I watched P.S. I love you...I know I am way behind on movie releases but Netflix is helping with this problem, I cooked a Central Market kit, and watched Britney: For The Record.

Central Market Kits are amazing! Basically they provide all the veggies and spices. This Old Fashioned Spagetti Kit I made last night only needed noodles & beef to finish the meal, everything else was provided in the kit by CM along with instructions.

They switch the kits every week, previously I have made Tortilla Soup and Chicken Noodle Soup.

As for Britney. I want to like her because she is from Louisiana where I native, and her music is so freaking catchy! I love all her cds. I can't help it. I usually listen to more independent music having Dashboard Confessional, Imogean Heap, Iron & Wine, and The Postal Service as just a few of the many favorite bands I have. But I just don't know something about Britney Spears that makes me listen. But For the Record did nothing for me. I still can't like her as a person. I tried.

I'll still download her album Circus Tomorrow.
