The Holidays
Things have been so hectic and CRAZY!
Christmas was fun.
My mother surprised me with boots from Barney's Co-Op instead of the BCBG ones I wanted! I also received a new digital camera, a new ipod, House season 3, 21 & House Bunny Dvds, J. Crew clothes, lots of Godiva & Hickory Farms. A few items for the apartments.
I planned to blog on Monday, but so much has been going on. Work is driving me crazy!!
My boss let me leave yesterday morning and told me I did not have to return until Monday! I was so excited for the break for New Years, but then he called me around 7 p.m. last night said things have come up with the audit and that I need work for today & Friday....so aggravated. At least I have tomorrow off.
My work computer is messed up, it will not connect with any of the printers, and I have nothing to do since my boss brought most of the audit stuff with him our other office location.
But on a good note this way I can save more of my vacation days for my next trip to New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
We are not closing early for New Years Eve either so I will be here until 5 p.m. I will post tomorrow about my new years resolutions. I'm just in a funk right now.

Merry Christmas
Yesterday was the office work party. We had a lunch in the office. We had a nice dinner and white elephant gift exchange planned but "rude girl" mentioned here and here could not make a night event because she baby sits and also could not afford a 10.00 white elephant gift. What really confuses me, is how she comes in to work after going out all night....so it seems she have not only the time but the money to go out and purchase alcohol but not anything pertaining to our office party....so yea it kind of sucked because we could not shut the office down we still had to deal with clients that walked in or called during our "party" thanks to "rude girl".
I love these Rudolph Mugs . I will probably pick up a few of them when they go on sale after Christmas!
We were supposed to leave early this morning around 6 a.m. to start the holidays. David is still sleeping. We attended a Christmas Party at his sister's house last night where we scored a charging station, melting pot, costco, and pei wei gift certificates!
Today we have a 5 hour drive ahead of us from Austin to Lake Charles to visit my family. Tomorrow we will drive from Lake Charles to Mandeville/New Orleans to visit David's family. Then Friday and Saturday I will be in New Orleans visiting with all my old college friends. I am so excited!! We will do the drive back to Austin Sunday. Riley, our dog, will be dropped off in Lake Charles and we will pick him up on the way home.
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! I will be back to Blogger Monday!

Peacock Skimmers
Christmas shopping officially accomplished! This weekend I braved Barton Creek Mall! I have been putting it off due to fearing how bad the crowds would be. Thanks to Holiday Mall Hours, David & I work up early and arrived at the mall yesterday for 10:30ish AM. I found the rest of the remaining presents needed and my outfits for Christmas Day and New Years Eve!
I am completely in love with these shoes! If you have ever read my blog previously, you know that I have expressed my love for all things peacock.
Peacock Skimmers

I am also very excited for the 2 day work week! The 5 day vacation from this job is a much needed break, but I'll save that story for tomorrow.

TGIF
The past 2 days in Austin have been icky, Fog everywhere!
This picture was taken at 5 p.m. yesterday on my drive home, so as you can see the fog doesn't let up all day.
Today will be the same then it will be clear tomorrow, thankfully!
I haven't felt like doing much with the nasty weather, makes me just want to be home on my sofa. I even skipped the gym last night, partly from taking advice from the news that said its better to not get out and about in this weather.
This weekend David & I are planning to go ice skating, and finish Christmas shopping for the family.
Hope everyone has a Happy Friday & a great weekend!

Weekend Adventures
David & I had a great time volunteering at the Texas Children's Home. There we are below in our aprons after serving food. It was something we both would like to do again. It felt very rewarding to help others especially at Christmas! With so much negativity and bitterness going around it's just not healthy. We want to surround myself with positive people who aren't so pessimistic.
The rest of the day was also great! We attended David niece's basketball game, went on a double date to the Trail of Lights, I forgot my camera so I will have to wait to get those pictures from the other couple that came with.
Then on Sunday we headed downtown for some shopping.
We found David's Secret Santa gift at Anthropologie. I picked out a Monogrammed Mug
along with a porcelain box that I could not find online, I hope David's coworker loves them!
The best part of my Sunday was going into Book People , a local independent book store next to Anthropologie. Inside Book People I saw a Blue Dog painting anyone who knows me knows I love love love Blue Dog! When the New Orleans Museum of Art held an exhibit David took me to a lecture and book signing by the artist George Rodrigue . I was so excited to see a painting hanging in Austin, I asked about it. Apparently George Rodrigue visited Book People in November 2000 and painted this Blue Dog while he was in the store!

Half day Fridays!
I have been so busy at work preparing for the audit. The date keeps getting switched around, it is now tentatively happening the second week of January.
I am able to leave work early today due to having to pick up David after he drops his car off at the body shop to get it fixed from his little fender bender Monday morning.
Tomorrow my coworkers and I (plus David) we were encouraged to bring people along, are going volunteer at the Texas Children's Home. I'm not sure what exactly we will be doing there tomorrow. I know there is some sort of a play going on.
The rest of the weekend David & I have a double date to the Trail of Light
And we will finish up Christmas Shopping. David pulled names for "Secret Santa" at work. Coincidentally he pulled the name Erin, the girl who sits next to him who is married to a David, and she also went to college in New Orleans. If those similarities were not enough my David swears Erin & I are like the same person personality and style wise. So I can't wait to help him pick out something for her!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Laura Elizabeth Jewelry
I discovered Laura Elizabeth Jewelry and I love it! Another great thing is that a portion of Laura Elizabeth's sales are donated to environmentally conscious causes.
Here are my favorite pieces:

Snow and Car Wrecks
This morning I woke up to a text message from my mom telling me that she saw on the news in Louisiana that it snowed at the Capital downtown in Austin. I thought awesome probably melted through the night. To my surprise when I went to take Riley out for his morning walk, there was light snow on the ground and covering the cars and rooftops! Pretty much a big deal considering living in Louisiana I never saw snow that didn't melt after 2 seconds of being on the ground. I was running really late this morning had 40 minutes to shower, take Riley out, have breakfast and leave so did not have time to take any pictures, hopefully it will snow again tonight or perhaps this weekend, because I need pictures of my Riley bear (the Mini Schnauzer) playing in the snow!
Wonderment Ornament found here
Yesterday morning David was involved in a car accident, fender bender. The roads were wet and around 8 a.m. he hydroplaned into the back of someone. They were not going very fast 25-30 mph. Everyone involved is ok, but the frame on his car is bent and compressor busted so he had to file a claim with his insurance to fix it, also to fix the ladies' bumper. She drove a truck no real damage was done to her vehicle.
That combined with a hectic week at work is why took so long to get a post in this week.

For The Record
To end my 4 day Thanksgiving Vacation, David & I watched P.S. I love you...I know I am way behind on movie releases but Netflix is helping with this problem, I cooked a Central Market kit, and watched Britney: For The Record.
Central Market Kits are amazing! Basically they provide all the veggies and spices. This Old Fashioned Spagetti Kit I made last night only needed noodles & beef to finish the meal, everything else was provided in the kit by CM along with instructions.
They switch the kits every week, previously I have made Tortilla Soup and Chicken Noodle Soup.
As for Britney. I want to like her because she is from Louisiana where I native, and her music is so freaking catchy! I love all her cds. I can't help it. I usually listen to more independent music having Dashboard Confessional, Imogean Heap, Iron & Wine, and The Postal Service as just a few of the many favorite bands I have. But I just don't know something about Britney Spears that makes me listen. But For the Record did nothing for me. I still can't like her as a person. I tried.
I'll still download her album Circus Tomorrow.
