How is everyone's week going mine? Mine is great!

I have been hearing car talk nonstop. After the hail totaled David's car he has been shopping for a new one, we test drove the Infiniti G37 and the Lexus IS 250. David thought he wanted the Infiniti but is now leaning more towards the Lexus, I wish he would just decide...

Hail in Austin?

Austin had hail on Wednesday, my car was thankfully under a carport but David's wasn't. His car will be totaled, windows are busted and the body is dent in places that can not be popped out they would need to replace almost the entire frame.

Here are pics of the hail taken from our balcony on the second floor.

David's back windshield, he had to tape it to stop it from shattering out so he could bring it to be inspected

When corporate comes to town..

Since the new merger of the now San Antonio office, a guy from Corporate has come down from our headquarters and has been at our office. Today along with my boss, corp guy went to San Antonio to finish clearing out that office and bring the files here, so I'm catching a break today.

I'm deciding what to do with my blog, I love it the way it is, but I want to incorporate more health, food & fitness in to it. You see before Hurricane Katrina I was going to school to be a nutritionist, after the storm the state cut funding and my University dropped the entire Health Promotion department, if you were a Junior or Senior within the major you were allowed to finish out the program, I was one semester away from being a junior in nutrition. Instead of switching schools, at the time I loved living in New Orleans Garden District, my sorority, my friends and could not imagine switching to Nicholls University.
Instead I choose to switch my major to General Studies to keep all my credits, I was allowed to choose 3 concentration areas; I obviously had health, and I chose Urban Planning & Business Administration...and I now work in Human Resources. Don't get me wrong I love Recruiting, but I sit back and think why did I not follow my passion for Health. I think I would enjoy my job a lot more.

So don't be alarmed if you see more food pictures, and fitness info on here, I will still aways post my favorite fashion and daily life, my blog will just be a hodgepodge.

Also to NYC H.I.T. your martini for the martini swap will be in the mail by Saturday the latest, I promise, I have not forgotten!

Austin is gloomy today with a chance of hail this afternoon, I would love to stay in and bake with this Cupcake Kit

Where I run

This was taken at my apartment complex's lake this morning around 7:30 a.m. it is very cool place to run, they even have equipment to stretch and signs explaining what & how to do, very handy for pre & post workout stretches!

It is very hard to not be fit at my apartment in addition to this lake, all residences have free access to an 11,000 square foot fully stocked athletic club complete with group fitness classes, showers, lockers, and complimentary child care. We even get our own id card to sign in with, pretty fancy for an Apartment Gym!

Residents also have free access to the complex's Pools, Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Sand Volleyball Courts, Racquetball Courts, Bocce Court and a Dog Park. So there is really no reason for me not to be in shape. Even being at home is not even an excuse when all these things are located within 5 mins walking distance from my apartment. My complex is great I recommend it to anyone moving to Austin, even though we are located in North Austin as opposed to downtown. David & I fell in love with all the amenities and things they do for residents for example: free wine tasting classes, restaurants open house nights who doesn't love free food on March 31st we are having a Carrabba's open house can't wait for that, there is also happy hours by the main pool.
And I plan to take full advantage of everything this place has to offer now that the weather is nice!

After my run I re-hydrated with Zico

For breakfast I had Hodgson Mills Multi Grain Pancake Mix with flaxseed and Soy, I made waffles topped them with warm mushed apples & cinnamon, complete with a Vanilla Ginger Green Tea Chai.

Now I'm off to start my day of relaxation with my Tivo & back issues of Shape & Cosmo, taking the puppies on a walk and hopefully have time to fit in some Yoga while I wait for David to return from Dallas.

Peacocks & A Pug Baby

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was fabulous!

David surprised me with brunch at Green Pastures . The brunch was delicious and the Milk Punch (made with hagan das ice cream bourbon, rum, and brandy) was AMAZING! The best part the ground had peacocks! If you have been reading my blog for a while you might remember I had a peacock obsessed phase, so it was pretty awesome David picked a spot where I could see them!

Here are the few pics, they really would have came out great except for the one random car parked in that area.

After brunch we headed to Teuscher for coffee and chocolate! Oprah named this place the best spot to get champagne truffles on her favorite things show one year! And they were delicious!

We also have a new addition to our family. David & I already have a miniature Schnauzer and we now have a Pug.
Meet "Kingston". He is 8 weeks and 6 days old.
Here are a few pics of David with Kingston when we first brought him home.

Forgive me if I am not commenting as much, we just found out Friday that employees at San Antonio branch were let go, the Austin branch is now taking over that as well. My work now consists of my position for Austin, Temple & San Antonio. I will be super busy this week getting used to the transition.

SXSW

This weekend is the start of SXSW . While David & I could not score a wrist band, it is a surprise when they announce the arrival of wristbands and you have to rush down to the Waterloo and purchase on a first come first serve basis and a music bandage cost 550 at it's cheapest rate per person. We will probably be attending some of the individual movie screenings & band shows that venues have opened up to general ticket holders. Hopefully I will have some celebrity sightings to blog about, so fun!

I'm not sure what we will be doing this weekend, David has a surprise on Sunday. I love when he plans things! I'll blog all about it Monday.

I have been missing New Orleans and looking for way to incorporate it into my home, Fleur De Lis are obvious and after working at Mignon Faget and selling more Fleur De Lis pendants than I can count in my lifetime, I am still kind of sick of them. So I found these really cute New Orleans' Restaurant Recipe Soup Bowls . I love them!

The bowls would be so cute matched with Galatoire's Soup Spoons

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Zico

Many of you asked in the comments where to find the Cupcake Floss, well in my blog all links are red and if they have been visited will turn to silver so just go to Frosting Flavored Cupcake Floss to find it!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! David & I saw the Watchmen to quote David it was "freaking awesome", to him anyway. It is totally a guy movie and really graphic! Not my cup of tea.

I discovered something amazing this weekend. After running I usually drink water to hydrate. David always drank coconut water, not being too big of fan of coconut I shunned it. But then I tried Zico after hearing David swear he almost instantly felt rehydrated. I read the label which says Zico contains 650 mg of potassium which is equal to 15 sports drinks and it has 5 electrolytes to replenish you after a good work out.
Guess what I loved Zico!! The coconut taste is not this sweet artificial flavor taste. It is very soft smooth and refreshing after running. I recommend it to anyone who works out!

Happy Weekend!

Have a great weekend everyone! Remember to not forget about Daylight Savings time!

I am personally excited, I like to run in the afternoon because it is impossible for me in the morning to wake up early enough to get a work out in along with taking Riley out, feeding him, making myself a good breakfast and getting professional for work. I am excited now that it will not get dark so early after I get off work, more time outside at the running trail around the lake for me!

David & I went to Central Market last night to do our grocery shopping, so this weekend we plan to take it easy, get in lots of outdoor exercise, and head to the movies to see the Watchmen, David's pick.

I have a slight obsession with all things cupcake and how cute is this Frosting Flavored Cupcake Floss

Cute Blog Award

I won a cute blog award from My Life, My World, My Words

With this award you are supposed to write 10 not so cute things about yourself...hmm

1. I am not cute if you catch me before I have not had my morning coffee.

2. I am also not cute after a work-out my hair frizzes in it's pony tail and my face resembles a shade of lobster red.

3. David doesn't think it's cute when I set off the fire alarms while baking, cooking, due to not turning on the fan because the noise bothers me.

4. When I wake up too late to wash my hair before work, a rare occasion but not cute when it happens.

5. I am not sure about this one, but going to assume that David doesn't think it's cute that I speak in abbreviations such as I we need to go get food at WF (Whole Foods) or any place you can think of I say initials or when I say FE (Fair Enough). Its a bad habit I don't know why I abbreviate so much?

6. My hair in humidity is def not cute! I have naturally wavy hair that requires a straight iron.

7. When I get lazy and do not pluck my eyebrows in between waxing, not cute!

8. When I do not visit the tanning bad, yes I fake and bake guilty as charged. The snow white look is a not a cute look for me.

9. When I wear flip flops with out painted nails, not cute!

10. When I eat the chicken fajita burrito from Chipolte with a side of guacamole and their delicious lime flavored chips which causes me to carry a food baby..not cute!

I give this award to:

Flower Power

I am in love with this ring.

I saw this brand Gracie's Gear and Training on The Inner Workings Of A College Graduate and I need this tank badly! Meghann reviewed the sports bra version and gave it a really good review. I always need a place to keep my keys when running usually David is lucky enough to just have to hold them.

Since Gossip Girl was a rerun last night and House did not air I watched the much talked about Bachelor finale. I personally was a fan of Molly to begin with but poor poor Melissa she did not deserve that! I was also able to Tivo Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, two of my favorite shows which I have been watching online due to Tivo only being able to record two channels at time and GG is a high priority for me while David can't get enough of House all air Monday nights at 7 p.m. We finished off the gumbo, took a day off from working out as we pushed hard this weekend.

Gumbo kind of weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I did!

It started Saturday morning with an early morning run in the cold. I was on a health kick, I even had a healthy breakfast; oatmeal made with skim milk topped with a sliced banana, a small handful of walnuts all drizzled with a tablespoon of Texas made Honey. I was inspired to eat right and work out hard. Then......David decided for lunch we should have Thai and my health went out the window. We went to a place where David goes to for lunch a lot with his coworkers called Titaya's Thai Cuisine . It was my first Thai experience and I loved it not only was the food amazing; I had a Thai Iced Tea, Spring Roll, and Beef Pad Thai, but the service was great too. Our waitress was so nice and attentive! I was really impressed!

When we were done stuffing ourselves with Thai food we headed to the Round Rock Outlets . We initially went there for the Nike & Addias outlet to buy cheap work out clothes. I could not resist going to the J. Crew outlet where I picked up a cardigan at 50% off, shirt and sandals for 30% off. Steal!

After shopping we head to the movies to see Taken! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I thought it was a great movie and I'm glad we saw it. David & I really had no desire to see the movie we just didn't know what else to pick from and was in the mood for a movie. It turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen in awhile!

Sunday we did not make kite festival it was in the 30s and way too cold for me. I took my workout inside to the gym, caught up with Tivo and cooked a Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo with the help of a Central Market Kit.

I am proud to say Lent is going well, we survived the weekend with no Fast Food, Starbucks or It's A Grind. It was rough being at the outlets in the cold when a hot Starbucks was waiting for me in the food court, but I did not give in!
